“Now to him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us” Ephesians 3:20
Have you ever encountered these verse in your life?
This is such a great promise from our God that He is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think.
When I first heard this verse while we were in our Mid Year Fasting with CCF ( Christ’s Commission Fellowship), I could not really comprehend how powerful this message was if I was to apply it in my life.
But as it was explained later on by our Pastor, I was able to grasp how important it is to hold on this promise of God to me. That anything that I ask or think of, He can do more than I can imagine as He is able to do it not just exceedingly but also abundantly.
Can you imagine a life that is exceedingly abundant?
A life that is so much blessed with everything that you need and want is being given by God.
And there are people who are living an example of an abundant life.
I just want to share with you this story that I have read from a devotional book that I have been reading, Life on Purpose for Women.
There is a woman named Peggy who is showered with blessings wherever she goes. She is a true example of being blessed “exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think” (Eph 3:20). Peggy prays BIG prayers. She sees her God as a BIG God – an all-powerful God, with whom nothing is impossible. She doesn’t put limits or restrictions on God. She has no problem receiving from the Lord, as some of us do, so she is always ready and willing to accept the good things He offers. One possible reason was the fact that Peggy always expects to be blessed.
And she always has a positive outlook, no matter what how hopeless a situation seems. She truly believes that no matter how bleak the circumstances appear, God will turn them into good for her and other believers. Another reason that Peggy is so blessed may be because she believes God desires to bless her, simply because she has a personal relationship with Him, and not because she does everything right.
Peggy is not perfect. But she is the perfect example of someone who is truly abiding in Christ and living in union with Him every moment of every day.
Peggy prays about everything. And she is quick to to give God the thanks and the praise for all her blessings. She feels that more believers would be blessed if they would acknowledge to the Lord-and others-that every good thing that comes their way is from Him. (James 1:17)
Would you like to have an abundant life just like Peggy?
Here is a prayer that can lead you to ask for God to bless you exceedingly abundantly:
Lord Jesus, You said that You came so that I could live the abundant life, and I ask you to teach me how to do exactly that. Surround me with people who will challenge and inspire me to live a blessed life that will draw others to You. Expand my vision, and enable me to see You as the big, loving, and giving God You are. Thank You Lord, that what You’ve done for Peggy, You will do for me.
