The CCF ( Christ”s Commission Fellowship) church had its Mid-Year Prayer and Fasting week this 2014 last July 2-6 and my husband and I committed to join our church as we wanted to know more about God and develop a closer relationship with our God.
I was looking forward to it as these past few months, I have witnessed how powerful and merciful God is in my life that I felt a deeper hunger to know more about His power, mercy and grace.
For those who wants to know what fasting is for and why it is important, I would just like to share with you the importance of Prayer and Fasting in our lives.
Throughout History, God has called on His people to humble themselves through prayer and fasting. As a spiritual family, we practice prayer and fasting to deepen our intimacy with God. Fasting is a spiritual weapon to God used to advance His kingdom, move nations, spark revival, and bring victory to the lives of His people.
In 2 Chronicles 7:14, God says, “If My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray, and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.” Prayer and fasting fulfill these requirements.
As I started my fasting last Wednesday, though I have a peptic ulcer, because of my desire to know God more than what I know of Him and to have an intimate relationship with Him, I chose to do the normal fasting which is to drink water only for a period of 4 days.
On my first day of fasting, we had to run errands to buy some cabinets for the house, it was hot outside and I could feel that I was about to have a bad headache out of exhaustion and hunger at the same time. I then reminded myself to be strong and if we had not decided to do this errands of buying a cabinet as we needed to so we could put our messed up clothes scattered in the house, I would have been spending the time praying and resting in God’s presence. It was a matter of choosing, prioritizing and making a decision to commit to God’s will.
When evening came as we were still out and about looking for some stuff for the house, I felt hunger and weakness set in, I felt my peptic ulcer was finally kicking in to remind me that its there or should I say temptation. As I clutch on my husband’s arms while walking, I had to admit to him that I was feeling so weak and I was having stomach pains. I didn’t want to let him know coz I know he will force me to eat and it would break my commitment of doing the normal fast which is water only for the next 4 days. But I felt I could faint any moment at that time so I had to listen to my husband that I have to take one meal a day during the course of my fasting since I have an existing condition of peptic ulcer and our church, CCF also has given us cautions for people who have medical conditions.
This whole scenario reminded me of how weak humans are if there is no God giving us all the strength that we need in order to survive daily. But apart from this weakness for hunger for food and thirst for water, the hunger and thirst for our spirit to be filled with God’s spirit is more important rather than the needs of our own flesh.
In Matthew 5:6, it says “Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they shall be satisfied.”
With that in mind, as I was going through the whole experience of spending more time to pray to God and listen to what He wants me to do in my life, I felt God spoke within my heart. For many years that I have been planning, reflecting and thinking of what I want to do in my life and how I want things to happen in my life, I felt some clarity on why I am at the point where I am right now. Its all because God was preparing me to experience every fear, rejection, pain, failure that was all necessary in order for me to do the task which He has assigned me to.
Before I came up with the title that I thought of how I wanted to be perceived which is, a Life Coach & Marketing Consultant, I just thought it sounds good and it perfectly fits me. But little did I know what it really meant and if I could really fulfill such role. But God is really an awesome God as He made me clearly see what that tile brings, being a life coach means sharing the good news that God has been sharing with me all throughout my life. What a better way to spread the good news of the Lord but by sharing with you all the trials and triumphs that I have experienced showing all the workmanship of God within my life. And with the talents and skills, the heart and the passion for marketing that God has given me, thus having the title of Marketing Consultant fits well.
God really works in mysterious ways that only He knows as He is a sovereign God and He knows everything even before things happens in our lives. And I would like to think that God has prepared me to do this task to help His people know more about Him and combine the marketing skills that He has blessed me to teach people on how to succeed with their businesses so that He can use their resources for greater good. If you realize the Great Commission that everyone must fulfill their purpose here on earth, then we can all participate into helping one another so that we can share the blessings God has given us and in turn will bless more people who needs it the most.
I thank God for the wisdom and insight that He has given me today to reveal my purpose of putting up this website to share my wisdom about Life with God and doing business that is blessed by God.
God rewards those who seek Him. Not those who seek doctrine of religion or systems or creeds. Many settle for these lesser passions, but the reward goes to those who settle for nothing less than Jesus himself. And what is the reward? What awaits those who seek Jesus? Nothing short of the heart of Jesus. – Max Lucado
